Ramblings & Musings

Girls Get Lonely Too

Her womanhood is moot,

but she tries to do the most,

floating through the streets,

feeling like a ghost.

There's a graveyard,

where bouquets,

never received lie -

a chip on her shoulder,

loneliness in her eyes.

Girls like this, they exist,

but many don't believe it,

because they're dismissed.

She's been let down,

she feels like crap,

too many risks,

with dating apps.

She's given up,

she's fallen back,

dropping by the wayside,

slipping through cracks.

She frowns at comments,

when others share,

hiding away her photos,

disheartened and scared.

If she gets too confident,

she's put in her place,

for the rolls on her body -

and the flaws on her face.

She "needs to be reminded"

of where she "belongs",

as if being less "pretty",

is the worst kind of wrong.

The world feels callous,

as it body-shames and shrugs,

as mirrors become enemies,

every glance feels like a snub.

She lets people forget her,

and lovers rarely stay,

when a better girl shows up,

she's a topic of shame.

Some are pushy,

to have their way,

as if she's not worth

having her own say.

Some push her in a corner,

don't even wrap it up;

she asks them nicely,

but with little luck.

Wishing they gave more of a fuck;

One "I'm not ready,"

should be more than enough.

She shouldn't have to be handsy,

or shout to stay safe,

or have a taxi on speed dial,

if she needs to escape.

Sex is hardly the flex people think,

when your boundaries are tested,

and your confidence shrinks.

More than half of matches,

act like they've died,

turning into Casper,

with no replies.

Some are picky, want more than they give,

asking for the world, standards like a sieve,

caught up in arm-candy, ego and trends,

over anybody real who will love them to the end.

So many are out here,

getting screwed over and burnt,

and instead of looking inward,

some'll never learn.

To the bitter and broken,

that last verse is for you -

thinking she has it easier,

but that isn't always true.

She's just as tired,

and wants more than a grope,

being used sucks -

she's in a similar boat.

She cares about character,

over looks or fancy cars -

yet it still doesn't seem to get her very far.

Most men want beauty,

and judge with their eyes,

no matter the "league" they fall in,

no matter their shape or size.

So she's rejected, across the board,

dressing up to the nines,

spending nights, ignored.

She's had to accept how they see her,

and where she's often stood,

as some harden the softest hearts,

then claim woman are no good.

Wishing her heart was worth holding,

not just a time-pass for the bored,

as she puts aside her dreams,

of a future where she's adored.
